When I was called to Jury duty about a year ago, they notified me by mail. With this I was given about two weeks notice. Although I was not selected, education did not appear to be a major concern in that case.

It sounds like there is a great deal of variation from one city to another.

Even though I do not relish the prospect of getting involved in a long Jury case, I do think that it is still a better system than that found in most other countries. For example in México they use Roman Law. This means that there is a Judge and you must prove yourself innocent. Because one is guilty until proven innocent. Think about it, how easy would it be to prove yourself innocent to a single Judge, particularly if he happens to be in a bad mood or has been bought by the other side.
