What a WONDERFUL Hello card! I am saving that one.
Scarlet Macaw (Ara macao): one of the most spectacularly colored of all the macaws. It is listed on Appendix I of CITES - this means the animal cannot legally be collected and shipped from or to participating CITES countries. It is endangered over much of its normal range. There are TWO populations of Scarlets, the yellow-winged or Central American and the South American population which has more green and less yellow in the wings.
I would dearly LOVE copies of any pictures you took. Where do I send the money? All I need is a little information on where and when the pictures were taken. I hope I may have your permission to show the slides at our big avian conference (over 1,000 registered so far!).
I don't suppose you have ANY pictures of the Great Curassow (Pavo del Monte). My talk at this meeting is on a Great Curassow. A photograph of one IN THE WILD would be a coup de grace.
