Thanks, Larry, for including this thought-provoking speech. The attacks on the educational system in this country have gone pretty much unchallenged until now. After reading this speech I began to see that the situation is not as simple as we have been lead to believe.

I enjoyed it so much that I e-mailed it to my mother in Montana and she e-mailed it to my sister in Boise. My sister's husband is a state legislator and is very interested in public education issues.

Do you agree with Weisman's point of view? Do you have anything to add? You are on in the inside of the public education system. What is it doing right? What could it be doing better?
