P King Duk: So how's the smoothing going? How's my latest release work?
JohnCartan: Smoothing is still vaporware. Your latest version worked fine... until I tried to resize the window. Crashola!
P King Duk: Predictable; I just don't understand that stuff yet.
JohnCartan: Keep at it. You are making steady progress (which is more than I can say at the moment).
P King Duk: I also haven't really looked at that code in years. Maybe I will be able to fix it.
JohnCartan: That's the fighting Nicholson spirit!
P King Duk: The "maybe" part? Yup. What should be tops on my "to do" list?
JohnCartan: All I can think of at the moment is bulletproofing your Alex program.
P King Duk: Any projections for smoothing algorithm delivery?
JohnCartan: I may get a chance this weekend. I HAVE been thinking about it. But for the life of me I can't remember what we came up with. Does Alex do color?
P King Duk: I won't have color till Robert returns my video board; he says this may be soon.
JohnCartan: Ah. I've been having a blast doing color interface stuff in Oracle Card. I'm a color convert!
P King Duk: Also an Oracle convert?
JohnCartan: Yes and no. It has some definite advantages over HyperCard: color, network/multiple platform, and draw and paintobjects, plus a better tool bar. But it's also based on HyperCard 1.2 (not 2.0) and is flaky around the edges. Not as reliable as HyperCard.
P King Duk: If I'm home this weekend I'll convert the world generation to Object C, then look at bugs.
JohnCartan: I'm finding that the combination of color and a screaming fast machine opens up whole new worlds.
P King Duk: Are you running 2.1 yet?
JohnCartan: I THINK I'm running 2.1. Aren't I?
P King Duk: You're asking me? I just noticed that my new system (7.0.1) requires HC 2.1. What kind of machine?
JohnCartan: Some 486 contraption with a turbo something or other and 20 megs of ram.
P King Duk: OHO! So this isn't even a Mac?
JohnCartan: Sad but true. They claim they'll be giving me an Fx in a few weeks. There are Quadras all over the place.
P King Duk: Any other Alex discussions?
JohnCartan: The only thing is developing a better journal. Some kind of groupware. Any further ideas?
P King Duk: Hmm... It frankly doesn't seem that important to me.
JohnCartan: Time to fade. Expect a tape by the end of next week.
P King Duk: Right. Bye.
JohnCartan: Adios!
