Cliff Resigns

Voice Card  -  Volume 7  -  John Card Number 5  -  Sat, Jul 8, 1989 8:03 PM

I am sorry to report that our leading logician has resigned from Archipelago. The poor man was consumed by guilt because he was too busy to keep up with the group. Of course he is welcome back anytime his schedule clears. When I started the group I knew we would inevitably face a few drop outs, but I hope Cliff will be the last. He will be sorely missed!

Following is the complete text of his resignation note:

June 13, 1989

Dear John,

It is with great reluctance & embarrassment that I tender my resignation from Archipelago. Even with the best intentions I am unable to find the time anymore to participate. Committee assignments, directing dissertations and the like have increasingly cut into an already small amount of spare time.

I hope you will forgive me - I was honored to be in your group and I certainly feel that I have let you down. Your fine programming and editorializing made Archipelago a pleasure. I wish I had more time to be part of it. But issue after issue find me with a guilty conscience over my inadequate participation.

Even the summer offers no let-up. One major committee will meet throughout the summer plus I have 2 thesis being written for me.

My sincere apologies -

Your friend,

Cliff
