OPENING MESSAGE

Hello Card  -  Volume 14  -  Preface Card Number 0  -  Fri, May 18, 1990 07:09 PM

Issue 14 did not come out as fast as I had hoped, but I'm happy with it nonetheless. We have a nice assortment of gifts from four of our members, some great voice cards, and some notable milestones.

With the help of Paul's regular donations to the Sound Club, we now have over 500 Sounds in our archive! To celebrate I am including a selection of sound effects from those trendy Simpsons.

AND in this volume we have achieved an even more impressive record: our ONE THOUSANDTH VOICE CARD! And just in time for the Fourth of July!

The current volume also includes the final installment of my Indefinite Sabbatical story, as well as the sizzling climax of Gilligan's Island. Drury has received several interesting responses to her kitty dilemma, Paul clarifies his position on beans, and Suzanne takes a leap from sex to salads!

We also have, as I said, a nice selection of gifts. One of the most interesting of these is the fish lecture Drury delivered in Mexico City. We also have a road mapper, a stress test, a card game, and "Grokware".

There is no Quotationist column this month (Paul is in the midst of a dry spell), but Stuart offers more sonnets from his bestiary and Mr. Wizard presents the results of a curious sleep experiment.

By the way, Drury has moved. Be sure to install both of her member cards.

Another minor note: Paul and I continue to expand our Alexander wargame hyper-journal. I will continue passing the stack back and forth with Paul, but unless anyone else expresses an interest, I will not consume valuable disk space by shipping it throughout the archipelago.

And that's about it. Please try to make the deadline, enjoy the cards, and CONGRATULATIONS to us all on our 1000th voice card! May the next thousand cards be even better!
