There is a medium sized bookstore on Park St. in Alameda, near Central ave. I went in there, for the first time, last Sunday afternoon. Browsing thru the stacks, I found an interesting looking book titled "Creative Dreaming" by Patricia Garfield . It was written in 1974 but seems to have a lot of good information in it.

The author deplores the way the western world, especially the US treats dreams as a total waste of time and then she discusses how dreams were used by various groups, by the ancient greeks and romans, by the American Indians, by the Malasian Senoi tribe and by the Yogi in their religion. She finishes up each chapter with what you can learn from this particular group. Then she discusses keeping a dream diary, how to achieve lucid dreams and even dream control moderation of your waking moments.

I found it to be interesting, and as a retired person I may try to see if I could achieve the lucid dreams.
